Hey there folks,

Thanks for reaching out! Apologies for the radio silence, we are just stumbling back across this post.

Just to make sure we cover all bases, could you double-check if any updates are available for the operating system of your device(s)? It's worth checking the sound drivers in this case as well.

Another thing that comes to mind is to disable the communication settings, and also Exclusive Mode along with the audio enhancements in Windows, to see if you notice any difference. You can do by following these steps:

Go to Start > Settings > System > Sound > Sound Control Panel, switch to the Communications tab and set "When Windows detects communications activity" to Do nothing.

Head back to the Playback tab > right-click your audio output device > select Properties. In the new window that pops up, switch to the Advanced tab and untick "Exclusive Mode" & "Enable audio enhancements".

Should the issue persist, however, could you confirm if this happens when listening directly from the computer's speakers? Or, as an example, occur when you're using specific headphones or a external speaker?

Let us know how you get on!

Operating System

Windows 11

My Question or Issue

Volume mixer and changing the volume with the in-app slider doesn't actually affect the volume, even when muted it's still set to max. The only way to adjust the volume is by changing my actual PC volume which messes up the audio of every other application. Have tried restarting my PC as well as reinstalling the app.

Hey @unfermentedwine,

Welcome to the Community and thanks for posting this thread!

You mentioned that you tried with a reinstall, but just to be on the safe side I recommend checking out the steps here for a clean reinstall if you've not already done so. It's a bit more detailed and helps resolve different performance issues.

On Windows it's possible to download Spotify both from our website and the Microsoft Store so after the reinstall, could you test with the version that you weren't using so far? They can have different behavior.

Lastly, if there's no change, let us know in case this behavior happens with any other apps, if you're streaming to an external device (such as a speaker for example) and if this persists in the Web Player.

Thanks an we'll be on the lookout for your response.

Hi, I tried both download options and neither solved the issue. However the Spotify application has also started having this same issue on my other computer, despite it being fine before?
This issue doesn't happen on the Web Player.

I'm also having these same problems. I've tried the download from the Microsoft store and the website directly with no change. I've tried the web version, but I wanted the app to work.

It looks like the only fix that works is turning off "Enable audio enhancements" (Exclusive mode and communication settings didn't change anything)
I'm not sure if this will affect other apps and I'm also not sure why this sudden issue popped up because I've never changed that setting before, but oh well
