Windows 11, Windows Store installed with winget.

1. Open a large discography.

2. Hold down the end-key to scroll to the bottom as quickly as possible.

3. Play a track near the bottom.

4. "Spotify can't play this right now"

This seems to be connected to dynamic loading of other resources on the same page, and occurs if I scroll faster than graphical assets can be loaded. If l manually scroll and let all assets fully load as I go it'll play just fine.

Where you unable to reproduce it using my instructions?

I have reproduced it on all 3 of my windows PCs, including re-installing and trying one that didn't have Spotify app until yesterday. Reinstalling, or trying more computers doesn't make a difference.

I have attatched a video showing how to reproduce it in detail.
1. Open Metallica's discography with everything

2. Hold down end until everything is loaded, and I'm at the bottom
3. Can't play anything.

4. Manually scroll up again (notice how assets are loading in)

5. Hit end to go to the bottom.

6. Now it plays.

It seems to be easier to reproduce in a larger window.

Thank you for the detailed steps! I'm facing a weird issue...

Directly selecting the artist's older music at the start fails to play; however, playing newer music first enables subsequent playback of older tracks.

Hi there @ChellyGeheim,

Thanks for reaching out. We'll be glad to help you enjoy all of your favourite artists' entire discographies.

This behaviour is quite odd indeed. Thank you for the video, it really helped us understand what's happening. So you mean that whenever you try to start older tracks, the error in the video appears, but starting new songs works? And then if you start a new song, the old songs start working as well?

So that we can get to the bottom of this, could you please provide us the following:

Is this on all devices or only on that MacBook?

When did this start happening?

Does it happen only with Taylor Swift and/or specific artists or with any artist?

Is there a threshold for how old the songs have to be to not play? Is it only with artists with more than a certain number of albums?

If you sort the releases as a grid instead of a list, does that change anything?

With this information, we’d be happy to investigate.

Keep us posted.

Hi there, thanks for your reply.

So you mean that whenever you try to start older tracks, the error in the video appears, but starting new songs works?
Yes

And then if you start a new song, the old songs start working as well?
Yes

Is this on all devices or only on that MacBook?
On my iphone is working fine.
Friends of mine with a 2022 MacBook Pro M2 and a 2023 MacBook Pro Apple M2 also have this issue.

When did this start happening?
This first happened to me a week ago

Does it happen only with Taylor Swift and/or specific artists or with any artist?
The same issue occurred when i test on Miley Cyrus' song

Is there a threshold for how old the songs have to be to not play? Is it only with artists with more than a certain number of albums?
I can't define what count as 'old', but I'm wondering if it's because too many songs are loaded on one page
Here are steps in the new testing video:
1. Clicking 'The Joker And The Queen' located the100th+ position from the top of the list, initially fails to play.
2. In contrast, clicking the relatively new song 'Lavender Haze' results in normal playback.
3. Clicking 'The Joker And The Queen' again then plays successfully.

If you sort the releases as a grid instead of a list, does that change anything?
Clicking a song after entering the album results in normal playback.

This issue persists, but the exect behavior is not always the same. Spotify windows client, v 1.2.64.408.g0a9b557c, installed with winget.

I no not always get the "Spotify can't play this right now"-error message. but still the track will just not start. I can reproduce consistenty with the same steps as before

However, if I scroll down more slowly, or scroll up, then down again, it will work.

There is ovbiously stil something wrong with how assets are being loaded while browsing a playlist. As soon as everything has been in the viewport for long enough to load, it's fine again.

I have been experiencing this error over the past week on Windows Desktop.

When I listen to music, I click on a specific artist's page and then "Show all" under the DISCOGRAPHY section. I like to jump around between songs a lot, so scrolling through the songs list works best for me.

Now, I'm required to take a couple of extra steps: clicking on the specific album the song is featured on and playing it from there. If I don't do this, I will get: "Spotify can't play this right now. If you have the file on your computer you can import it."

It's not the biggest of deals, but I'm now forced to go back to the artist's main page after each song and repeat the process when I never had to in the past.
