topic Spotify DDOSing my router in Desktop (Windows)

Hi All,

A bit of a weird one. I've seen at least twice.

I don't understand why and what's triggering it. The Spotify app will start sending A LOT (100Mbits/s) of network traffic, all of those tiny packets (between 54 and 60 bytes). This causes my router to freak out and struggle (a lot).

I've done a wireshark dump this time. All the traffic (we're talking 5.3M packets in a <30sec timeframe) is TCP DUP ACK between my computer and an Akamai IP (probably Spotify CDN).

I had to kill Spotify in the task manager to stop it from DDOSing myself.

I won't share the pcap here for privacy reasons, but I can send it to the Spotify devs if needed.

Best Regards,

Plan

Premium

Country

France

Device

Desktop Computer

Operating System

Windows 10
