Volume Control Does not work

Using the Spotify app for windows, when I try to adjust the volume the volume control does not change anything. I can either have it on full volume or muted. The only fix I currently have to this is to open spotify in my web browser and play it from there. I am able to adjust the volume properly on the web browser

First up, it's well worth running a clean reinstall of the app to get rid of any cached files that might be causing trouble. If you had downloaded the app previously from our website, now try the version from the Microsoft Store instead and vice versa.

If the issue persists, would you mind sending us a short screen recording of the issue happening so we can take a closer look? You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert Video option in the post editor. You can also upload it to Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to see it).

Lastly, sending us the exact make/model, operating system and Spotify version of your PC would come in handy.

We'll be waiting for your reply.

Thanks for the video @0ji3okixa-_yh and we had a look at what's happening.

In order to clarify a bit, could you let us know if the same thing happens if you've got your computer's audio set to max?

Additionally, since you've already performed a clean reinstall, please test with the following steps and let us know if any of them make a difference:

Disable/enable Hardware Acceleration (Three dots > Help > Troubleshooting).
If the behavior persists regardless if you've got Spotify in full screen.
Try rescaling the app (Ctrl + scrolling up/down).
Turn off Normalize volume in Settings.
Adjust the Volume level in Settings.

We'll be on the lookout for your response.

Same issue here with the same version.

Volume slider in the app has no effect at all, only posibility to change volume is to change it in the app sound settings of Windows.

Have you tried the troubleshooting steps that @Eni and @Ivelina suggested? If not, give them a shot to see if they make a difference. Something else worth testing is resetting the audio settings of your Windows to the defaults, as well as making sure your sound drivers are up-to-date. In case you have several audio output devices connected to your PC, you might want to check if the correct one is set for Spotify.

We'd also recommend disabling the communication settings, as well as Exclusive Mode and audio enhancements in Windows. The steps may vary a bit, but should be something in the means of:

Go to Start > Settings > System > Sound > Sound Control Panel, switch to the Communications tab and set "When Windows detects communications activity" to Do nothing.
Head back to the Playback tab, then right-click your audio output device and select Properties. In the new window that pops up, switch to the Advanced tab and untick "Exclusive Mode" + "Enable audio enhancements".

Spotify changed my volume every time I went back to the desktop app. I fixed it by installing spotify with the WEB installer, (reinstalling spotify from the microsoft store does not fix the problem).
