I have tried everything, it seems. I have updated Realtek to the latest compatible with my PC. I have reinstalled Spotify and cleared cache, etc. I'm not having this problem with Tidal. I think it has to do with the speaker selection system in Spotify. I have a number of options there, including some Sonos speakers. But when I am working on my computer, I want to be able to play on "this computer" using its default: Realtek sound BECAUSE I have a set of fine Corsair speakers attached via the headphone jack on the computer.

I had a problem these days with spotify desktop App.

For Window Users, this problem may appears when you try to play a song. Your speakes are working normally on other apps, but in Spotify Desktop app your Realtek drivers could not work correctly.

You should uninstall Realtek drives and try to reinstall or install Nvidia High Definition Audio Drivers (Are free).

This must solve the problem.

I had the same problem on a Dell running Windows 10 after a Windows Update. Reset/reinstall Spotify didn't work. Deleting driver from device manager didn't work. Ultimately had to uninstall Spotify, download the most up to date driver from the Realtek website (which took hours to download), reinstalled the driver, rebooted, installed Spotify.

"spotify can't play this right now"
In the Realtek Win 11 scenario, turning off the "Audio enhancements" giszmo under "System/Sound/Properties" solved my problem yesterday. Might apply to other brands of sound cards too? I don't know!? Turning off "Hardware Acceleration" in Spotify settings have helped me earlier on other PCs.
