I was really happy when I saw the announcement. Which makes me sad to say that in its current state, it is broken.

TLDR: Evidence linked below.

The content is not being played back as it should be, a known issue on Windows that has been fixed for other streaming services. It is also a problem on Android as well as Spotify Connect devices.

Headphones.com did a deep dive on Spotify Lossless that outlines all the issues: Spotify Lossless has a problem
It is all based on accurate data. Headphones.com and Goldensound are both reputable sources in the HiFi and audio community and have previously investigated audio quality issues on other platforms.

Please take this issue seriously.

It'd be nice to have WASAPI or ASIO out but personally, I use Equalizer APO to upmix the Stereo signal to 7.1. So using WASAPI would skip it and I actually won't be using that option. But I totally understand why this is critical for anyone on headphones or stereo puritans that don't EQ, room correct or otherwise process their signal.
