How to remove a song from local files

I've got a local file containing 60000+ songs. I want to delete a couple of them, but I don't see an option doing this. Can you help, or is it not possible?

Hi there @Squadronsupreme,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community and welcome!

Local files are songs that are on your device's storage. There isn't an option to remove individual Local Files tracks from the Spotify app. If you wish to do that, you'd have to go to where the tracks are located on your device's storage and move them out of the folder that you've added as a Local file source in your app's settings. You can find more info about the Local Files and storage in this article.

I know this is late, but this solution is just plain useless.

The files are ringtones and voice msgs, how should I be able to listen to my playlist peacefully.

I shouldn't have to delete my ring / alarm tones just for spotify to not have them in a playlist.

On desktop, you can select the source folders for your local files from the app's settings:

This option isn't available on the mobile app at the moment if that's what you meant, but there's a live idea about this here, so feel free to check it out and show your support.

Hi, has anyone found another way? There's a song I added to my local files years ago, and I don't know where it came from—maybe from a PC that's already been formatted. Now it's showing up there, and I don't know how to delete it, even though the path in Spotify is a different folder.
What's more, I added a song to the current local folder, deleted the song, but it's still showing up there.

Hi, I have a song there that I added years ago. I no longer have the path linked to Spotify; I linked a new one, but that old song still appears. How can I remove it? Or how can I find out what path it's in?

Welcome to the Community and thank you for joining the thread.

We appreciate the troubleshooting you've done so far. To continue, we'd recommend turning off the option Local audio files from your app settings on the affected device and then performing a clean reinstall of the app by following the steps mentioned in this article. This process should assist in eliminating any cache that may be causing troubles.

After that, If you don't have the audio file on your device anymore, turn back on the Local audio files option to check if the track is still there or not.

Hello, does anyone know how to remove local files on macOS?

I don't see an option to remove the song when I right-click, nor when I use the delete key or fn + delete. Is there another way?

Hello as a very happy Spotify Premium subscriber. I would like to suggest would Spotify

consider a feature within the Local files section to have the user to be able to remove

any local music file that he or she does not want to listen to any more.

The reason I am referring to this is because at present as far as I know I am unable to do this action in my own Local files.

I personally think this would very helpful tool feature to have available within The Local Files Feature within Spotify.
