I just saw the same behavior on the version of the app downloaded from Spotify. The version info is the exact same as what was downloaded from the Microsoft Store:

When the app is open and music isn't playing, eventually the screensaver will turn on and windows locks. A few minutes after that, the PC will then go into sleep mode even though it's set to never do so.

With Spotify closed, however, the screensaver turns on, Windows locks, and the PC remains in that state until I log in again.

I have the sleep settings set to "Never" in power settings, and this behavior does not happen with any other app.

When Spotify is actively playing music, the PC will lock the screen but the music continues playing. It's only when the app is running but not playing anything where this happens, and I can't figure out why that is.

Hey there @-XiX-,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

At the moment, it's possible to download the app from both the Microsoft Store and our Web page here. So in this case, if you install the desktop app from the web page, try to uninstall that version (perform a clean reinstall) and try installing the one from the Microsoft one or vice versa. Do you notice any changes when doing this?

On another note, we'd like to gather some additional info. Please send us:

The exact Spotify version you're running.

We'd like to know if it's always behaved like that or if this behavior started after a specific event/update.

Keep us in the loop!

Hi @AlejaR and thanks for your help! Here is the version info for what I'm currently using:

I installed this from the Windows Store but will try to version on the web page and let you know if there's a difference in behavior.

Hey there @-XiX-,

Thanks for your replies and for the info shared.

It seems there is a new version of the desktop app available to install. You can check for possible new version updates in the three dot menu that you can find in the left-top of your screen in the desktop app. There, select Help> About Spotify. If there’s a new version available, you’ll see a button “restart to install”. Give it a try and let us know if this continues to happen in the new version.

Now, if issues persist afterwards, would you mind trying to run the app in Safe Mode to rule out any issues with your default Windows settings and basic device drivers?

Lastly, it'd be awesome if you could add more info about when this started to happen. Did you notice if this started to happen after a specific event such as an OS update?

We'll be around.
