Spotify app pops up a box for me to select a certificate. Says "Select a certificate to authenticate yourself to apresolve.spotify.com:443". There are 2 listed. I've tried selecting both but library never opens either time.

looks like this btw.
This has to do with TLS client certificates and a server-side change
You can ignore this, it's not required but it will keep on popping up until they change it server-side

it also happens here on community.spotify.com in the browser when it tries to access my account during login for me.

I'm having the same issue, and it doesn't allow me to use the desktop app anymore.

I just got this, too. 4 certificates are listed, none of them are trusted.

For me it went away after restarting my PC

This morning I started receiving SSL certificate warnings that look pretty sketchy (picture attached). They are showing as untrusted root authorities. Using a little bit too much AI over there at Spotify these days?

Spotify Desktop (Windows 11) is completely broken

My Question or Issue

My issue with the desktop app started when I was faced with a pop-up to select a certificate (I assume a SSH certificate), so I decided to reinstall Spotify. Afterwards, songs would stop playing after six or ten seconds, so I did another reinstall. This time, I can't install the app at all. I'm greeted with an Error Code 17 message. The Web Player and the Android versions work fine.

Things I've tried:

1. Clean reinstall (obviously the cause of this issue), including using third-party software to do a full sweep of remaining files and registry data.

2. Disable VPN, including split-tunnelling Spotify.

3. Running as administrator

I am still having this issue restarting the app didn't fix it nor did reinstalling the app or restarting my device

As we've gotten confirmation from our teams that this should be fixed, we'd just like to check a few more things with you to make sure we cover all bases.

Just to confirm, does this only happen with the desktop app? Or with the Web Player as well?

Also, do you notice any difference if you download the app from another source? For example, you can try downloading it directly from Spotify instead of Microsoft Store (or vice versa).

it happens on the web player as well. I have tried to update anything that needed to be but that didn't fix it either. I also tried to install spotify directly from the spotify website with no success. the version from the store refuses to open all the other options ask for the certificate. then once I click ok or cancel it stops loading.

Thanks for getting back to us.

Would you mind checking if the same happens while using a different internet connection? If you've been using Wi-Fi, now you can try with mobile data.

If the issue persists, make sure to disable any antivirus or ad-blocking software, and turn off any VPNs if in use.

yeah that fixed it all I did was switch to my wifi instead of my data
