Spotify suddenly would not open on desk top (Windows) so uninstalled and tried to reinstall but cannot open the spotify website. Can open any other website so not an internet connectivity problem. Have followed recommendations on all forums to try and solve problem without success including checking antivirus settings etc. Is it possible that Spotify has decided it doesn't like our IP address? Please help.

I would just like to verify what problems you are having, as the title and how I read what you wrote are a bit different.

You title says you are having problems with the spotify website, but the first thing you mention seems to be the desktop client.

It is very possible for both problems to be linked.

Lets start by troubleshooting the problems with the website:

Could you see if any of these links work for you, and what errors you get when trying to access them.

1) https://www.spotify.com/account/ - This should take you to your Spotify account overview page, or ask you to log in

2) https://play.spotify.com/track/6Qfok8v7l21fjzKWnAwUdu - This should open a track from a blade and soul album in the web player, or ask you to log in

3) http://open.spotify.com/track/4JUkdidM086v5Vl2xBQYt5 - This should open a track in the web player from an Assassin's Creed Album or ask you to log in.

4) http://www.spotify.com - this should take you to the Spotify main page.

5) http://news.spotify.com/ - this should take you to the Spotify news blog.

Lastly are you posting from another computer on the same network, or the same computer?

I am posting from a different computer on a different network. Sorry if i've not been clear, to clarify........Spotify sits on my husband's computer and has worked happily for years. Suddenly the desktop shortcut wouldn't open, when you clicked on the icon to open a pop up appeared with a buffer thing that wasn't moving and then it disappeared from the screen. The spotify icon would then appear at the bottom right of the screen but as soon as you hovered the cursor over it the icon disappeared. I decided to uninstall Spotify and try to reinstall but that is when I hit the problem with not being able to open the spotify website to try and download it. Like I say everything else opens on an internet search but if i try and open the spotify link it comes up with a message which I can't remember exactly but along the lines of it cannot open because maybe the link is spelt incorrectly and a few other suggestions....nothing that solves the problem. I have tried running a virus scan but that hasn't shown anything. We have changed internet providers recently but Spotify has been working since then. I have to add it is an old computer and probably not the most stable.......we only use it to run Spotify and the odd internet search. When I had another play with it last night I did see a message pop up in the bottom right corner about low virtual memory. And also a message to Back Up which we've never had before but that might be to do with new internet. Definitely something odd going on! Any thoughts most welcome as otherwise we will have to cancel our subscription

Happened to me too when I was using two monitors. If you extend , and forget to turn the 2nd monitor on it'll behave the way you describe.

Spotify will be open in the "off" monitor .turn on both monitors!
