Created an account to say thanks and to let other people who google search this problem that this fix works. Windows 10, sidewinder keyboard. Winamp wouldn't change song when hitting the next track button. Uninstalling the microsoft keyboard and mouse app and changing to itelligtype worked like a charm. I don't use the side macro buttons though, so I'm not sure how it would effect that aspect.

How do I fix this? If I hit play/pause, it opens WMP, and then if I press it again, spotify actually responds. If I close WMP it stops responding. I didn't have this problem until I reinstalled my OS earlier this year. What gives?

Apparently you can just unistall IntelliType (the microsoft sidewinder drivers) and the media keys will work with spotify. Worked for me (only downside is that the macro keys will not function witout the drivers, but i mostly play fps so, no biggie)

Alternativly i read you could download "spotify controller" and add a path to the media keys.
