I had the regular PC version of Spotify on my desktop PC running Windows 10.

It worked perfectly until this summer, when Spotify released the app in the Windows Store.

I went ahead and installed the app.....but didn't realize I was supposed to uninstall the regular program first.

Now, when I try to start Spotify, I get a message it's not installed. But if I try to install it, it tells me I can't install it because it's already installed.

I've found the references to Spotify that I could, and deleted them from my Registry, but every time I try to install the app, it shows the app downloading, then installing, then it goes back to 0% and starts over. Over and over again.

I'm at my wit's end trying to figure out this problem. Is this a known issue?

Hey @PD5205

That may happen sometimes when there are multiple versions of something available in a machine.

However, editing the registry is a risky business, I hope you know it. 🙂

The desktop client sits in %appdata%.

You can remove it through Control Panel (Apps and Features in case of the WinStore app) , or you can go to %appdata% in your file browser and delete Spotify folders in Roaming and Local.

It's recommended to restart your computer after it, and then you can try your Windows Store app again.

Let me know how it goes!
