Whenever I have Spotify opened up and it is my main screen, Spotify is working fine. However, if I then switch to for example Google Chrome or any other program, the Spotify sound becomes muffled. When I then switch back to the Spotify program again, the muffled sound is gone. Does anyone know what might be up or what I can do to fix it? Thanks in advance!

Hey @koopman_isabel

That might be caused by one of Windows Audio's quirky settings.

Here's how to find one:

1. Click on the speaker icon on the taskbar (near the clock)

2. On the opened volume slider click the speaker (or headphones) icon. You should see a small window named "Speaker Properties".

3. Go to 'Enhancements' and tick the box saying "Disable all sound effects".
4. If there is any other setting for Dolby or something in other tabs, disable those too.

5. Click OK.

One more setting:

1. Search for Sound. You can also right-click on the speaker icon on Taskbar and select 'Sounds'.

You should see a slightly smaller window named 'Sound'.

2. Go to 'Communications' tab and set Windows to 'do nothing'.

3. Click OK.

Restart Spotify.

In case you're using a dedicated soundcard, you might not see such settings, so you'll probably have to tinker in the software that came with the soundcard (like Sonic Studio in case of Asus cards).

Let me know what happens. 🙂
