Connect Spotify between Desktop Computer and Wifi speakers

Hi,

Is it possible to connect spotify desktop program to Wifi speakers. Everything I read suggests you need a smart phone, tablet or laptop that will allow you to use the Spotify app to connect. I have smart phone but when I'm at home I'd prefer to be able to use my desktop computer. Some people still use this technology. PS I have Spotify Premium. Would be great to get confirmation on this. Thanks
