Cannot add songs from a OneDrive folder

Spotify cannot read files (local files) from OneDrive folder. It used to work and it's still working with other folders (e.g. DropBox) but not OneDrive. It has stopped working for a few weeks now. The songs imported earlier are still there but new files are not registered and if you turn off OneDrive folder (in Spotify's preferences) and turn it back on, old files are gone too.

The problem relates to the the Win 10 Fall Creators Update that introduced a new Onedrive “Files on demand” feature.

Yeah I'm assuming so, but still doesn't explain why it doesn't sync with Spotify since the files are actually already available on my local computer (I can access the files without the internet). Other applications play them fine.

Yes, if i sync the file to my local machine again it's available in spotify again, but if i want to keep it online only to save space it does not work. Please include support for onedrive files on demand feature and play those files directly from onedrive or temp download, but at least show them in the local files in the spotify client.

Wait... mine does not even work if I have the files on my computer (green tick on File Explorer). Are you able to get them show up on Spotify's "Local Files" when the files are in OneDrive folder?

Same problem. Files are local (offline works great), directory is listed as a "local source", and the files are an accepted format (if I move one of the files to a different local dir, Spotify works great)...

Spotify doesn't seem to like the local OneDrive folder.

I'm also seeing this problem, though this used to work even a month ago. All of my local music media is synced through OneDrive... Spotify is the only music program that I use that is unable to see these files for some reason.

Songs are available in Local Files if you don't use the Files on demand option (disable in OneDrive settings). To me, this is a win-win as this feature is no help whatsoever.

This step worked! After I unchecked the "save space" setting in OneDrive and restarting Spotify (including going through task manager to kill any Spotify process that were still running) my local files that were in OneDrive appeared in the Local Files section of Spotify!

i don't want to uncheck save space as i don't want to download all of the files to my local pc.

Anyway, i have save space unchecked and indeed can see my local files still, so it's usable right now, but the interface to these local files is **bleep**.
