Trying to get the Win32 Client

Refreshed my computer and looking to reinstall Spotify. It appears that the legacy Windows client is gone and only the Store version is available.

Is that true? Or is there somewhere I can install the non-Store version?

You can install Spotify from here. The downloadable Windows client is not going anywhere. 🙂

The SpotifySetup.exe just installs the store version. I even tried a download from two years ago...it defaults to the store version when it actually installs.

Oh... In this case I'd recommend uninstalling it and installing an offline installer. Maybe this way you get a simple Windows client.

Uninstall:

1. Open Spotify and click File in the menu bar. Select Exit.
2. Click the Start button. Select Settings.
3. Open System.
4. Click Apps & features, then select Spotify.
5. Click Uninstall. Click Uninstall again in the pop-up to confirm.

This is the offline installer.

That also spawned the Store version.

Okay - I solved the issue by having to disable the Windows Store. I'm running Windows 10 Pro, so I had to create a Group Policy GPO. You have to add the new rule, the registry and other existing GPOs don't work. You have to also remove Store Apps in the admin account - the general user can't really remove store apps.

I used the video from urtech.ca for creatng the GPO. Rebooted. Installed the full version, then did the upgrade from within the application.
