The Spotify app keeps crashing on my PC each time I press "play."

Every time I try to play music on my PC from my Spotify app, it automatically closes down. Once I hit the "play" button, seconds later the app shuts down. I can still listen on Web Player though. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail. Please help!

What device, operating system, and Spotify version are you using? Also, how long has this been happening for? Did it start happening after an app update?

Also, when you reinstalled, did you follow the exact steps listed here?

I've been having similar problems for a few days or maybe weeks now. There are two things I noticed:
1. I have Spotify running in the background. After a while, when I want to switch to it (e.g. to select a song), I realize that Spotify has shut down, without me noticing. This suggests that this never happens while playing a song (I would notice) - only inbetween songs or maybe when playing no song at all.
2. Just now, when I pressed the Play-Button Spotify shut down.

There, of course, also are all the other bugs, that I grew to accept (like playlists not rendering properly, the playhead sometimes not moving along with the song, a different song being highlighted in green in the playlist than is currently playing, still displaying contents of the previous playlist after switching to a different one, etc.). But I don't think they are related to his specific bug, since they have been there for month or years.

I'm using a Windows 10 Desktop PC with the latest updates. I also have the latest version of Spotify. I also access Spotify from my Android Smartphone. However, I don't think the problem is related to me accessing Spotify from two devices: Spotify was not opened on my Smartphone, when Spotify on the Desktop shut down a few minutes ago.

I'm having the same problem from a desktop PC. Using Windows 7 and accessing spotify from the web (web player doesn't work on my system). Spotify crashes as soon as I browse.

Same for me, I think the issue is with my specific personal account as when I tried to switch it to my work account it works\

Any suggestions?

Tried to reinstall the programme/app but it still crashes all the time! I can only see a 'shadow' of a window everytime I try to open Spotify..have to resort to using the web player!

Yes looks like we have the same issue here, it works when I play it from the web

Does anyone have any idea on how to fix this? I reinstalled the app 3 times but it still crashes

I have a somehow similar issue.

Every time I try to play a song on Spotify, the application crashes. (Completely closes, no error reports or something)

OS: Windows 7 Pro

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Spotify, but this doesn't solve the issue.

Please provide a solution asap. We're paying montly for this service, the least we can expect is that this kind of BASIC functiality works fine!
