For the last few days I have experienced several times the desktop application on Windows close whilst playing music. The version is 1.0.82.447.g975ad224

It just stops, while no user interaction.

Have you tried re-installing Spotify? If you haven't please try that as a first step as this usually fixes many problems associated with Spotify.
