Hey @2t_k-3920yjim

That's pretty weird! However don't worry, let's try this 🙂

I recommend checking your hosts file for any entries containing spotify or fastly.

Do this:

1. open Notepad as an administrator (right-click - Open as Administrator)
2. go to File - Open and navigate to

C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc

3. Choose "All Files" instead of "Text Documents" next to the File Name box. You'll see a handful of files. Pick hosts and click on Open.
4. The file is opened. You will see a block of text with # in front of each line and might see entries like

0.0.0.0 website.com
127.0.0.1 website2.com

Check for any entries with spotify or fastly in the address. Examples may look like:

0.0.0.0 weblb-wg.gslb.spotify.com
0.0.0.0 prod.b.ssl.us-eu.fastlylb.net

(and any variations inbetween)
5. If you do find any, you can delete the line. You can also add a # in front of the line, that's 'commenting out'.
6. Save your changes. Restart Spotify.

You can also try removing all lines to see what happens.

Another thing that might help is restarting the router. It could be just a bad network congestion. 🙂

Let me know how it goes!

I have it running now on Firefox in the past 2 days. BTW: it was not the hosts file either. That's empty. I hope it stays somewhat stable on FF.

- Mark my case as closed.

... your captcha for logged in users still sucks...
... and so does yor community system - see screen shot below - I have that for almost every post I send! ...

... and another captcha request for trying again...

Hey @DäLudds and @2t_k-3920yjim,

Thanks for searching for the answer you need here. Apologies for the delayed response, we just came across this thread.

Sometimes data in your browser can cause such behavior. An easy way to avoid this is using a private or incognito browser window. This page has all the instructions on how to open one.

@DäLudds if you clear the cache and cookies in the original browser, that should have the same effect.

Hope you find this useful. Keep us posted if you have any questions.

Hello,

This just fixed my issue, so thank you. But I am still confused as to how this even happened in the first place!? What caused my host files to block Spotify?
