No sound when playing local files

My Question or Issue

Whenever I try to play a local file spotify seems to play it as normal (progress bar moves) however no sound is output to any device connected. Streamed songs are output normally through the default device. I have tried disconnecting all playback devices but 1, still no sound. I have tried rebooting, a clean install and moving local files to a different disk, nothing helped.

Also went through pretty much every thread on local files issues I could find on here, stuff like installing a new mp3 codec (all the files are mp3) did not work either.

Ok shoutout to this answer by Cronnix.

Spotify for whatever reason needs Windows Media Feature Pack to play local files.

This should probably be mentioned somewhere more easily accessible because that's not something obvious.
