Local Files: Artist not clickable

I have many playlists, constisting mostly of albums and discogs. Many of these albums are also local files. Sometimes I can see a local file icon in the playlist but usually not. I meticulously tag these files to the exact same info that's contained on the album as listed on Spotify. Seems like the only way the Local File icon appears in the playlist is if I drag the tracks from the Local Files list into a playlist. And when I do, the Artist is not clickable. Also, none of the Artists in my local files are clickable, which, of course, takes me to the Artist's page.

Shouldn't they be clickable?

Hey @Rollo_,

Sorry to hear about your troubles! I believe that since the local files aren't hosted on Spotify, I believe Spotify either can't or won't link the Artist to the track, however, as I'm not sure, I'll ask the question and get back to you with a definite answer!

Not an issue at all mate, since that is the case, I would suggest heading over here and making an issue report so it can be looked at and fixed! Make sure you have as much detail as you have here or more if you can! 🙂

Hey @Rollo_,

I've jut recieved an answer and at this time, having artists profiles linked to the local song isn't possible as the required meta data isn't available!

I'll update you if and when I get more information!

As I mentioned, this was a feature in previous versions, so, apparently, this is yet another useful feature that has been removed.

I tried installing a really old version over the current version, and not only are the Artists clickable, so is the Album title, and the Local File icon is shown. So if the powers that be are telling you that's its not possible, I beg to differ. The truth is that its the current version that doesn't support it.

And if you're wondering why this is important, I use local files [my entire CD collection is digitized] to increase the ridiculously low amount of files I'm able to download to my Android phone. I live in a rural area that has poor cellular reception.

I have just been busy, sadly I only volunteer so I'm only on every once I a while.

I have raised the issue to where it needs to go, they are looking into the issue at the moment, I'll update you if anything is found 🙂
