How can I prevent Spotify from updating automatically?

I do not want to update my version of spotify, but when it starts it updates itself.

I have tried:

I presume you want to keep a favourite old version where everything works for you? I've been wanting a manual update option for ages. Which opp system are you on? Windows? There did used to be an update ico you could delete yourself in users/ appdata/ Spotify? But it depended which version you were running? My only way round it until the manual update is to run a version just before the newer design build came in, but I use Vista so it still runs ok!
