How to update (old spotify version)?

My Question or Issue

I've been experiencing an issue where I could not update spotify. Today I uninstalled it and downloaded the setup from the website (in order do get the latest version). But the installer won't open from the "downloads" folder. I moved the installer to the C driver and it opened. It said "downloading spotify". After that the window just disappeared and nothing happened. No setup showed up.

I went to the forum and found this link: http://download.spotify.com/Spotify%20Installer.exe

I managed to succesful install it with this one, but it seems to be a very old version (0.9.15.27.g87efe634). How can i update it to the latest one?

HAve you tried updating in the app after installing the old version? What windows version are you currently using?
