Connected apps randomly stop working

My Question or Issue

For the past few days, apps that I have connected to spotify have intermittedly stopped working. Specifically, last.fm and Discord both do not recognize that I am playing music. They work and don't work together: if last.fm is scrobbling, Discord shows that I'm listening to music. If last.fm isn't scrobbling, Discord does not show that I'm listening to music. This has led me to believe that it is a problem with spotify itself, not either of those services.

Things I have tried:

Closing and reopening spotify

Logging out of every account

Disconnecting and reconnecting the apps to spotify (from both ends)

Changing my spotify password

Reinstalling spotify

Some of these seem to work for one session and then stop working.

Notes:

It appears that the web player and mobile player work fine with both services. It is only the desktop player that has the problem.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
