That is just odd two users with the same app version, one has the search and the other doesn't.

Just to be sure before you go the support option, you have also tried doing a fresh clean reinstall of the new app version as well too? Sometimes the updater process inside the app does not work so well and messes things up. And using the full offline installer makes things run correctly. You might as a last resort try doing a clean reinstall of the app using the offline full installer from here http://download.spotify.com/SpotifyFullSetup.exe and see if there is a difference.

To do a clean reinstall.

1. Log out and exit the desktop app, and now uninstall the app using the windows program uninstaller feature from the control panel.

2 . Do a system wide keyword search for Spotify and remove all folders left behind from the uninstall, as the main app folders will still be left behind from the uninstall process by Windows. Empty your recycle bin of anything with spotify in it.

3. Shut your system down completely, not just a reboot.

4. Start your system back up and go here http://download.spotify.com/SpotifyFullSetup.exe download and install the full offline installer.

5. Log back into the app and now go to a noncollaborative playlist that you created and see if the search feature is there. The search box feature should pop up within the top bar above the song listing in the playlist.

If that does not work you might try contacting Spotify support and maybe something just needs reset on the back end for your user account.

To do that you will need to contact spotify support, please go to this url https://www.spotify.com/about-us/contact/contact-spotify-support/?contact and fill out the contact form. If you get an automated response directing you back to the community boards reply back to that email, even if it is from a noreply and a customer support rep will get with you shortly.

You can even provide a link to your thread post from the community in the information box field, so support can get a better idea of your search issue with the newer app version.

That is really all I can suggest at the moment.

For **bleep**S sake spotify...

It was already a new kind of stupid that we couldn't search on an artists page, and now we can't do it AT ALL? Instead of telling us that this "feature" will be "released soon" tell us why in satans **bleep**ing name it would EVER be removed or not possible to implement? You HAVE to realize how insanely ridiculous this is!

I think the last time (well over a year ago) the reason we couldn't search the artists page was because HTML 5 or something stupid like that. You do manage somehow to release a WORSE and WORSE version of spotify every single time so I'm not gonna be surprised when we wont see ctrl-F for MONTHS and MONTHS ahead.

THIS IS LIKE FACEBOOK NOT HAVING THE FEATURE TO LOOK AT PICTURES! It just pisses me off that you don't seem to give a single **bleep** about your own software...

Instead of waiting for features that they took away for no reason and may never come back while those lazy-ass developers keep collecting your money, your best bet is probably to get rid of this unfinished beta piece of crap and enjoy a fully-fonctional Spotify again, by reverting to the previous version and preventing it from auto-updating :

http://www.reddit.com/r/spotify/wiki/1011060gc75ebdfd#wiki_reverting_to_an_older_version_.28without_automatic_updates.29

This is just a temporary workaround while waiting for Apple Beats to be released so we can all finally move away from Spotify 🙂

What kind of idiot thought "you know what, let's release the app as it is now, without being able to search music in your own playlist" and decided it was a good idea? Seriously, this is by far one of the most moronic decisions I have witnessed in my life.

You had a core functionality (that music players have had for a decade, since the age of winamp), it worked, and yet you decide to release a new version without it? What exactly did you think would happen? What is the thought process that lead you to believe this was a good conclusion? Honest to God they should use this scenario and teach it to programmers (and future app developers) as a prime example of of what NOT TO DO ... EVER.

+1 for this feature

Really wish Spotify would have better release management. In this release, the find within playlist function disappears for reasons unknown. In past releases, the "Repeat One" feature was gone, and then it came back.

On Android mobile, this current version breaks the "down volume" button on my earphones. The "up volume" button works well, however. Also, the shuffle is giving me lots of sequential tracks, which is odd for shuffle...

Basically, I have no reason to keep "Auto-update" behaviours enabled on desktop or mobile, since they keep breaking the app I enjoy and know how to use. The ONLY "value" that auto-update brings me right now is it gives Spotify an opportunity to randomly break features, introduce some kind of social or marketing feature I don't want, or introduce a bug that forces me to re-download my entire music library.

Getting kind of sick of this...

So, stil no search implemented. Just when exactly will this "new feature" be "released"?? Adding search functionality to a database should be a priority and also a piece of cake. I could probably learn how to code and implement this feature faster than you seem to be willing to include it. What is wrong with you people? Even an explanation of the reason why it was taken away would be something, just give us something we can understand so we don't all just jump ship to something better or go back to torrenting everything. I'm currently paying you money every month for a half baked solution that is missing core functionality. It's not like you're the only player in the streaming music business, it's not like we're stuck with you and have no other options? This is moronic! Bring this feature back. Why aren't you scrambling to do this and pushing it in to a release immediately??

It looks like they brought back this feature, but in a very limited fashion. It only works on your playlists.

It does not work in your music (songs, albums, etc.).

It also does not work in search results.

Good job Spotify in bringing this back, but it needs to be functional in all these places. Also, it really shouldn't be something you need a hot key for. There should be a persistent search bar (I suspect many don't use or know about the shortcut).

Hello:

What version of the app are you running versus the app version your roomate is running?

I am on a free ad version of an account right now and I have access to the Ctrl+F, although it is currently only available in individual playlists right now.
