Spotify keeps opening on startup

My Question or Issue

Spotify keeps opening on startup. Yes, I went to Spotify settings and checked No in the options. I forbid it from starting in the Task manager. It STILL keeps opening when I log in.

How is that even possible? I am paying to use this program and it ignores my and windows settings and continues to act more as a virus than legitimate application.
I keep seeing reports of this "bug" from 2013!! Is it even a bug or did you program it to be malicious on purpose? What other explanations there is that you kept this "bug" in the program for 6 years?

Hey @Nevibya

That's strange!

I'd suggest reinstalling your Spotify client (try the Windows Store version). See this guide on how to, and restart your PC before installing.

When you open the newly installed app, go straight to the settings, or select your desired setting in the blue notification bar stating Spotify opened automatically.

This should do the trick, but if it doesn't let me know. 🙂

I uninstalled, installed fresh from your site, didn't help at all. Uninstalled again, installed new instance from Windows store, did NOT help at all.
Yes, I have "No" selected in settings. Yes I have it blocked in windows. It keeps opening on startup. A premium application that I pay for.
How in the world is that possible??

Sometimes like Google Chrome, Microsoft Word etc. the app will automatically reopen if the computer did not shut down properly.

Also if your computer was in sleep/hibernate mode, then the app would still be open.

@Dan96 Neither of these applies to me. I shut my computer down properly, and don't put it to hibernate or sleep.
No othe apps like Chrome or Word are opening on startup, only Spotify.

Spotify removed the setting "Allow Spotify to be opened from the Web" so that doesn't work.

This still happens, every time, on my home AND work computer, I have to close Spotify every single time I start Windows.
So? Where can I report a bug??
