Spotify Starts Automatically Even When Advanced Settings are Changed

My Question or Issue

My advanced settings are set to "No" for automatic start up but Spotify still starts automatically and every time it does my computer slows down and freezes even if I exit from the app. I use this app every day but if this continues I will have no choice but to uninstall it from my computer.

Hi there @lethal_lees,

thanks for posting !

I would suggest the following :

- Click on your Win search bar

- Type "msconfig" then enter

- Search for the Startup tab

- Uncheck Spotify from the list

Note: If you're using Win 10, click Alt+Ctrl+Del and you'll find the Startup tab there.

If this didn't do the trick, please perform a clean reintall of the app following the steps provided on this help page.

Note: You'll have to redownload any offline content.

Thank you! Sorry I never gave an update. I uninstalled Spotify before I ever got a reply and switched to the web browser version. I only came back here for an answer when that stopped functioning too. I reinstalled the app and preemptively followed your advice and it seems to be working now.
