Hey @Yasha_Kanesada,

Thanks for posting about this here in the Community.

As you're trying to use your Spotify with a Windows 10, it'd be helpful to try the following steps and see if the issue gets fixed:

Open Notepad as an administrator (right-click - Open as Administrator).

Go to File - Open and navigate to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc.

Choose "All Files" instead of 'Text Documents' next to the File Name box. You'll see a handful of files. Pick hosts and click on Open.

When the file is open, you will see a block of text with # in front of each line and might see entries like 0.0.0.0 website.com127.0.0.1 website2.com

Check for any entries with Spotify in the address. Examples may look like: 0.0.0.0 weblb-wg.gslb.spotify.com0.0.0.0 - If you do find any lines with Spotify, please remove them.

Save your changes and restart Spotify.

Keep us posted and let us know if it worked. We'll look out for your reply and be ready to help you further if needed 🙂

Plan

Premium

Device

Asus

Operating System

Windows 10

Everytime I use the Spotify app (Not the Web Player) it will freeze at random intervals. First, the app will stop functioning and I can't do anything but it still plays music. Then my cursor freezes and I can't do anything, and then the music stops and has some sort of static sound and everything stops functioning. I can't click, can't move my mouse, can't force quit my programs and I will have to restart my laptop. I've tried uninstalling it and reinstalling but it doesn't work and the problem still persists. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Hello, thank you for the reply! I have tried out the steps that you have listed, but there was no text with Spotify in the address. Are there other ways to fix this?

Hey there @Yasha_Kanesada,

Thanks for trying out those steps!

If you're still experiencing this issue with your desktop app, I'd first off suggest a thorough reinstall which should remove all corrupted data from your device and will ensure you're running the newest version at the same time. Check out this Spotify Answer for the exact steps.

Once you have the new app installed, head to your Settings and turn off Enable hardware acceleration to see if this makes a difference.

Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.
