Auto Update Fails

I'm having problems with Spotify, using the actual program (not browser) from within Windows 7.

When I start it, it tries to update. The update fails with an error code 12 insufficient memory or disk space.

My PC has 8GB ram and over 100gb free storage space.

The only way I have found to get SPotify to run is to go into

user\appdata\local\spotify and delete the update folder.

The program willl now run, until it downloads the newxt update and tries to install it.

Is there a way to permenantly stop the program updating ?
