I have local files turned off (all my music is from Spotify). I opened the task manager to see what was causing the issue and it just says "Spotify Premium" (see attached picture). 1 minute seems petty, but it should be a fraction of that. Can someone explain why this process takes so long....

Hey there @rbettoni!

Thanks for reaching out to us and welcome to the Community! We'll be happy to help you sort this out.

You could start with a clean reinstall with the steps here to make sure that all old files that might be causing trouble are gone.

It's also important that you re-download it from the Microsoft store.

Give your device a quick restart before you start the newly installed app.

In case the issue persists, could you ask a friend or a family member to log in on your computer and test this out to see if they get the same issue?

We'll be on the lookout for your reply.

Elena,

A full fresh reinstall worked for about 2 weeks.

It has now slowly tapered back to where it was when I started.

I have settings turned off that allow spotify to read local files as well other FAQ suggestions for reducing disk%.

--Elliott

Hey @efish15,

Thanks for keeping us in the loop.

The fact that a clean reinstall temporarily resolved the issue, until it gradually came back hints that something is corrupting the cache. Could you make sure that Spotify is added as an exception to your Windows Firewall and to all disk/ cache cleaning apps? If your device is a laptop, it's a good idea to also turn off battery optimization.

Hope this is helpful but don't hesitate to let us know if you have any further questions!
