100% this, I was going to start a topic saying the same things. Why is it so asinine and backwards compared to literally every other standard music player or streaming service?

It's clear that the Product Managers are not listening to this community or the features and suggestions, because this is still an issue and a confusing part of the platform several years later, even though it is one of the most basic and necessary features.

It sucks when you have the queue playing back in a building wide system, then all of the sudden a podcast starts playing for absolutely no reason, or the queue just ends even though you selected repeat+shuffle.

I used to use Google Play Music, I switched over to Spotify because GPM is going away and YouTube Music is awful in comparison. I like Spotify overall, but I just cannot get over how unintuitive queue management is with Spotify.

With GPM, I had a queue. If I clicked play on an album, for example, the entire album would be added to my queue. I could add or remove tracks to/from the queue, and I always knew exactly what was going to happen when I tried to play something. It just made sense.

Spotify's queue system, however, I cannot figure out. Clicking play on something may add it to "Next Up" or my queue depending on what I click, and "Next Up" is frequently populated even if I try to delete things from it--they just come right back after deleting them. I've read probably 5 different explanations from various users as to how the queue works with Spotify, but I still have no idea what's going to happen when I click a given play button within the app. This is the case on both desktop and mobile (Android).

This has apparently been a common issue for years, because I'm easily able to find dozens of forum threads from similarly confused users about this system. I think it would be really helpful if I could just completely disable the "Next Up" functionality and use a queue similar to how GPM's worked. I'm frustrated on a daily basis by this system because I never know what's going to play.

Just my two cents, no need to try to explain the system again because I've already read many explanations of how it works and it just doesn't make sense.
