Consider a large playlist that is playing songs randomly. In that case the current song (green) is not reflected in the playlist, so I hit the cover art and the playlist will jump to the location where the current song is (marked in green). That way I can do an action on that song.

However when the playlist is sorted by any of the 5 columns (so other than the default, which is more or less by "Date added", but not exactly). Then the playlist will jump to the location the song was at in the unsorted playlist, but of course that song is no longer in that position, so it jumps to and highlights another song. Very annoying!

(Premium plan)

Hi @Edwin71,

Thanks for posting in the Spotify Community!

Spotify is currently aware of an Ongoing Issue causing the wrong song to be highlighted within a sorted playlist when clicking on the album art, using the desktop app. I recommend adding your +VOTE to this Ongoing Issue, even though its status is "Not Right Now” and there isn’t an exact timeline for a fix.

I also recommend keeping your Spotify app up-to-date to make sure that you get the latest features and fixes.

Let me know if you have any other questions, and have a good day!
