Spotify switches to a random song

Spotify keeps switching to a random song I've never even heard of before (Belizian Dreams by Organic Julia) and then mutes itself and can't be unmuted even if I switch songs. It can only be solved by restarting the app. I've disconnected all accounts but the issue doesn't go away and keeps appearing about twice per day for almost a week now.

If you notice any suspicious activity on your Spotify account, always follow the steps below first:

Open the Reset Password form in a private/incognito window and create a new, strong password you haven’t used for another online service;
Open your Account Page, scroll down and click on SIGN OUT EVERYWHERE.

If that doesn’t do the trick, just let us know and we’ll provide you with further help.

I checked it like two days ago and there arent any connected devices other than my own.

Thanks for keeping us in the loop.

Most common issues can be fixed with a quick reinstall of the app. In some situations however, a clean (more thorough) reinstall of the app might be needed. This way, you can start afresh with Spotify on your device.

Did 2 reinstalls, deleting all app data etc, but the issue reappeared a few hours later. Idk if it helps but I was listening to the Global Top 50 and it happened exactly when the playlist was updated. Could be unrelated, but I thought I'd at least mention it.

No worries, we won't give up that quickly. It's also a good idea to log in to your Spotify account on another device just to check if you observe the same.

If it doesn't occur on a different device, we'd suggest making sure that your original device is up to speed with any software updates available.

reinstalled the latest windows updates which seems to have fixed it, ty for the help

Mine keeps switching to that same song! When it happens, repeat gets turned and it it’s muted. This is happening on both my iPhone and my MacBook, so I doubt a reinstall will work.

My Google phone also switches to the song "thank you Belize" by orange Julia. I don't have this song at all. I deleted and reinstalled app, to no avail. Hitting the forward and back buttons only toggle between 2 orange Julia songs...

I have been having this exact issue with the same two songs by this organic Julia for the past 10 days. Highly annoying. Any ways to prevent this from happening would be appreciated.

I've been having this issue since last night, and its been changing what I'm listening to to specific playlists. I'll be in the middle of a song and switch to one of them, or even if I have spotify paused it will start one of the random playlist. They all just appeared in my shortcuts and recently played. I got rid of them in my recently played, but they're still in my shortcuts. I've logged out on all devices and changed my password which has fixed it so far, but I just wanted to put on the record what all of those playlists were.

This exact thing happened to me last night. Just reset password, logged out of all devices, etc. so hopefully that fixes it. Bizarre playlists lol
