Spotify doesn't react properly to Cortana's command to "play music"

My Question or Issue

Whenever I say "Hey Cortana, play music", she just brings Spotify window to focus and the playback stops if it was playing before, or simply doesn't start playing if it was paused/stopped.

NOT OK

1. music is paused and doesn't play

2. "Hey Cortana, play music"

3. Cortana "Allright, Resuming on Spotify"

4. Spotify is brought to foreground and focused

5. music doesn't start playing

NOT OK

1. music plays

2. "Hey Cortana, play music"

3. Cortana "Allright, Resuming on Spotify"

4. Spotify is brought to foreground and focused

5. music stops playing

WORKS OK

1. spotify plays music

2. "Hey Cortana pause music"

3. Cortana: no response

4. music pauses

WORKS OK

1. music doesn't play

2. "Hey Cortana resume music"

3. Cortana: no response

4. music starts playing

This also works, which is weird.

1. music doesn't play

4. music starts playing

"pause" - music stops playing

"pause music" - music stops playing

"play music" - focuses spotify and music stops playing <-- this one is weird

"play" - music starts playing

"resume music" - music starts playing

"resume" - music starts playing

Can you try to relinking your Spotify account from Cortana?

If that doesn't do the trick - can you perform a clean reinstall of the app? This is different than a quick reinstall and could be helpful to get rid of any cached files that might be causing trouble.
