Song length mismatch

It's not really an important detail, but when I look at a song on my playlist, the song length is 1:13 but when I play the song, it says the song length is 1:12.

I took a screenshot of the specific song just in case.

I think that's because the last second is really the point where the song ends and Spotify will switch to the next song at this point. Foobar is doing the same thing. 🙂

I have a feeling that showing the last second fully too would increase gaps between songs...

You can try reinstalling Spotify, maybe it is an actual issue. Reinstalling usually wipes out in-program errors. 🙂

I have found some more examples.
I usually sort my playlists by length because that is more or less random. There were about 20 (of maybe 80 or something) examples of this occouring. Here are three:

Thanks for reaching out about this.

Would you mind letting us know if you notice the same behavior after performing a clean reinstall of the app? This can be helpful to get rid of any corrupted files that might be causing trouble.

If this doesn't do the trick, could you ask a friend or a family member to log into their personal account using your device to see if they can replicate this?

I didn't have the time to do that for a while.
Anyway, after a clean reinstall the first three songs have the same behaviour as before. For me and some friends.
They tried it on their device not mine.

The last one ("Never Give You Up") has the same times displayed now, like it did after putting it in another playlist.

Note:
Just after posting this, I saw that the times in the web version match.
I can only see the mismatched songlength in the desktop version.

Thanks for getting back to us.

Could you check if disabling crossfade or changing the music quality in the settings menu makes a difference? It's also a good idea to disable hardware acceleration. Let us know if the issue appears afterwards. If it does, make sure to also include the make, model, OS version and Spotify version on your device.

Windows 10 - Version 20H2

Spotify:

Crossfade was disabled, so I enabled it. Nothing changed.

Same with changing the quality.

I noticed after a restart the time displayed matches until the song is started. Also, when changing the song you can see it switching the time sometimes:

I'm sorry, but I can't be bothered spending any more time on this issue.

I haven't noticed any strange behaviour or issues with these songs (or any others).

Like the original author said, this is a minor problem I noticed, when going through some songs.

If I notice anything strange happening, I'll tell you.
