I am writing to express my deep disdain regarding the significant deterioration of your desktop application's user interface and performance over the past few years. As a long-time user who has invested considerable time in organizing my music library and curating playlists, this disastrous transformation has proven to be not only inconvenient but also alienating. It puts botched plastic surgery patients to shame in terms of the tier list of disfigurement.

Some years ago, Spotify's desktop app was infinitely more intuitive, and visually appealing. It was easier to get the actions done that you wanted to take, whether that was creating playlists, starting radios, adding music to playlists, etc. The layout allowed for a seamless browsing experience, making it effortless to discover new artists, navigate through extensive playlists, and manage my entire music collection. However, the recent changes have been disruptive to an extent that I find myself frequently lost within the application's updated interface, causing me to waste time searching for features I once found so readily accessible. I've actually closed the app in favor of watching the music videos on YouTube instead because of how terrible Spotify's interface is.

The previous layout provided a clear visual separation between categories such as "Playlists," "Libraries," and "Radio." This organization made it simple to switch between tasks without confusion or excessive navigation. Now, everything feels jumbled together, resulting in slower response times and increased cognitive load when interacting with the application.

Furthermore, I have noticed that some essential features are now hidden behind convoluted, pointless menus or require clicking through multiple screens – a stark contrast to the straightforward design that once characterized Spotify's desktop app. This complexity has not only made my daily music consumption more laborious but also increased the likelihood of errors and frustrations when trying to perform common tasks like creating new playlists, adjusting playlist settings, or managing song details.

This interface is absurdly unusable. Why am I no longer able to create playlist radios? Nobody cares about the stupid and pointless jams feature. I don't care about what my friends listen to. I care about what I want to listen to. I also could not care less about audiobooks and podcasts. I honestly feel like a toddler could design something more usable than this **bleep**.

I subscribed to Spotify for a single reason: to stream music. It's now a chore to find and listen to the music that I enjoy. There was nothing wrong with the interface as it once was with clear separations between playlists, artists, etc. Now it's a jumbled mess of wasted negative space, confusing menus, idiotic layouts, and I can't even view an artists' track list easily. Not to mention the near infinite amount of scrolling. I don't know what the deal is with the addiction to having so much padding on everything. It's such a waste of space. At least give me the option to make it look normal.

Any and all who came up with this monstrosity of an embarrassing app design absolutely needs to never touch UI/UX again.

To be clear: I will never use the audio books features. I will never use the podcasts features. I only care about music on Spotify. Making your jank app more confusing in hopes that I stumble upon an audiobook or podcast is incomprehensibly stupid. I'm done paying for headaches.

Man this is so spot on. I've been using Spotify since back when it was only available in Sweden but am considering changing because of how bad the UI has become. It's insane.

God I hate the app UI so much compared to how it used to be. Why even have "my episodes"? I download the podcast episodes/playlist or albums I want to listen to, undownload when I'm done. I don't want to have to edit the filters every time I open the list to only view downloaded, and if I quit the podcast with minutes left it won't automatically be removed. So obtuse

This should be an app with minimal disruption and maximum focus on what is currently playing. Spotify should make features like "Picked for you," "Made for you," and other clickbait and disruptive "for you" options OPTIONAL.

To reach the mode with the album picture and tracklist, you have to navigate through unintuitive subscreen closures.

Library maintenance is a separate issue.

The columns of the browsing screen are not editable.

Albums cannot be added as separate objects with a tracklist inside the folder (creating a subfolder for every album is not an option, and anyway, the tracklist does not appear in the Library browser tree but opens in a separate subscreen that should be OPTIONAL).

When dragging and dropping an album to a folder, it is added without the artist's name, forcing me to add it every time as I want to see in my library [ARTIST - ALBUM NAME (optionally year)].

....

Spotify definitely needs to improve its UI/UX, conduct tests involving music lovers, and make surveys, etc.

I wonder whether this can also explain why since a couple of weeks my Numan Two internet radio will no longer play any selected podcast. In stead it shows "Redirecting.." and then after a while crashes and restarts. In that it bears a similarity to what happened in september 2023 (ref: https://community.spotify.com/t5/Other-Podcasts-Partners-etc/Numan-one-Internetradio-Crashes-maybe-when-Loading-Spotify/td-p/5639422 ). All listings are still shown and internet radio itself is still fine. The radio is based on a Frontier Silicon chip. Management of stations and podcasts is currently done by airable.fm (before it was done by frontier.nuvola).
