For some reason tosay, the desktop client and the droid app aren't seeing each other. So now I can't sync any of my local tracks.

I've made no changes.

Any ideas?

I have this problem as well - I connect my Android to my computer with the USB cable but nothing happens? It does sync other things with the default sync tool that came with my droid, but it can't seem to connect to Spotify.

Hey, I should have replied to this. I rebooted my router and they saw each other.

As for your problem, the phone syncs wirelessly with the desktop app.

Open Spotify on the desktop.

Open Spotify on the phone.

As long as they are both connected to the same network, the desktop client will see the phone.

The desktop can be connected to your router either wired or wireless. The phone can only be connected wireless

I see... The thing is, my Android tablet won't connect to the internet at all due to the outdated Spotify version on Android, so for now, I guess there is no way of connecting my TF 201 to my computer... Thanks for the reply though!

Sorry I don't really understand what you are saying?

Your outdated Spotify app is causing your tablet to not connect to the internet?

a) the Spotify app wont prevent your tablet connecting to the internet

b) the current app on the market hasn't been updated since Nov '11

c) to sync with the desktop client the app only needs to connect to your local network (wirelesly) and the destop client on the same local network

Can you be a bit more specific?

Yeah, I kinda messed that explanation up...

My tablet has no problems connecting to the internet. Spotify, however, is constantly in offline mode. Therefore, I can't connect it to my computer via Spotify, since that would require Spotify to go online. It's not that I can't go online in general, it's just that Spotify can't.

Hope this was a bit more understandable 🙂

Many users with ICS on their phones or tablets are having similar issues caused by the app being constantly offline. Spotify are working on an updated Android app which will support versions of Android later than 2.3, but we do not have even a rough date when this might be available.

I think there needs to be a sticky message in this forum explaining this to save people needing to ask.

EDIT: I realise that this is in the first post of the thread that is stickied ("Is my phone compatible"), but the title wouldn't attract people for whom Spotify has been working fine, or who have tablets, and who have moved onto a new firmware version.

Hey guys!

I didn't want to reboot my router as I've got a lot of Security stuff set up and didn't want to spend up to an hour re-configuring the thing.

So I just changed my router's name (or SSID for the majority of household routers).

If my router was called:

123 My Street

I just changed it to:

124 My Street

Now when I did this all of my devices in the house did lose their connection but since I didn't change my wireless password or anything else complicated I could reconnect straight away. As soon as I reconnected on my laptop and my HTC android phone the laptop was listing my phone under devices. I sync'd a few playlists, crossed my fingers and changed the SSID back to 123 My Street. It's still working.

So, from my experience - just change the SSID (the router's name) and change it straight back (if you don't want to reconnect every wireless device you own).

My guess is that my latest Android update caused it a few weeks ago and I didn't notice cos I didn't want to sync anything new until today!

Bump,

I'm now having this issue. I've tried EVER method I could find on this site, all those posted by mods, admins etc. And those by users. I tried every single thing I could possibly due short of buying a new house, Nexus 7, Computer and buying Spotify again.

It WILL NOT detect the device.

If one of the customer service staff replies to this I really don't want to get a stock "make sure you're on the same network" response or I'll go insane.
