I am a premium member and my audio setup is as follows. I have chromecast audio with the latest firmware upgrade, connected to a cambridge audio DAC 100 over mini TOSlink cable. The DAC is connected to NAD C 375BEE AMP that drives PSB speaks and Martin logan sub. Spotify support 246kbps on the chromecast (as per spotify website), I have set the Andriod app on the phone to Extreme streaming quality. But the DAC says that the incoming bit rate is only 44.1. Can you please help me understand why I dont get the max bit rate that the chromecast supports?

Are you sure the DAC is telling you the bitrate, and not the sample rate? Because 44.1 (kHz) is exactly the same as you'd expect the sample rate to be in most cases.

You are absolutely right! 44.1 is the incoming sampling rate. I checked the DAC and it says right on top of the lights "incoming sampling rate". Which means I might be streaming at the best quality Spotify offers on the app and Chromecast audio.
