Both problems mentioned here appear to be insurmountable. The developers have known about these problems since April and yet there is still no fix. We can only conclude that:

1) Spotify don't care.

2) Spotify's developers are sub-standard and don't know what they're doing.

Hi Spotify,

I wish to alert you about a significant problem. You have received several messages about playlists going AWOL from smart phones and in particular Android on HTC. A couple of months ago I blogged to say that as a premium user, my playlist resynced itself during a two hour stoppover in Singapore airport. I was not aware this had happened until I investigated a bill I received for AUD $600 from the network provider OPTUS. All the charges were down to data roaming useage for just two hours.

Now back in the UK, I received a bill from from Orange a few days ago totally £3,068.00. With the help of Orange I have identified that most of the charges were accrued between 22-27 Nov 12 on my UK registered HTC One. My phone it seems was downloading data in 2GB packets almost constantly over the period. I have complained to Orange acusing them of the error but I know this was down to Spotify and the playlist resyncing. The onus is now on Orange to investigate the issue which may well lead back to Spotify. I think it is time you put some serious effort into resolving this resync issue given that it may well impact you finacially.

There is an option to not sync over mobile networks inside the spotify app, you can find it under the settings menu inside the app, i believe the option is labeld something like "allow syncing over 2G/3G". I suggest that you check if you have or have not enabled this option

To contact the support team directly you can use this Contact Form.

Edit: According to this Thread the issue of excessive data usage on 2G/3G networks still persists even if the option to sync over 2G/3G is urned off. I do believe that this serious issue can only be fixed by the developers of the application, on the matter of any economic compensation any inquries should be directed to the spotify staff through the contact form.

Thanks for the quick response.

I am aware of the option to sync over wifi only but as I am mostly on the road my music on Spotify is a welcome feature. Somehow, Spotify disable the offline playlist on a too frequent basis and the only way to get the playlist back is to re sync over the GPRS/3G network. My complaint is that this happens all too frequently and incurrs unafordable network costs.

Thanks

Bob

I do see your point, the application on android seems to have some major flaws like you mention. This problem should definitely be a priority for the spotify developers team as this issue leads to unnecessary costs on your behalf.

The problem with have to re-download playlists very often seem to only be an issue on the Android spotify client, but it is not an issue for the iphone/iOS client therefore the developers should be able to fix this issue.

As i mentioned before i would highly suggest that you also contact the spotify support team directly through this Form so that the issue can be delivered directly to the developers at Spotify.
