Stop Spotify from using ANY data

How do I do this on my Android phone?

The things I've done:

Data Saver is on
I've restricted background usage for Spotify
I've turned off downloading over cellular on Spotify

And yet, Spotify still uses data whenever I have the app open. If I am not connected to wifi on my phone and I am listening to Spotify on my computer, the app uses data to know that I am listening on my computer. My data usage increases.

This is so frustrating. I had an iPhone a few months ago, and with it I simply turned off data for Spotify (it was a single button) and my phone would never know I was listening on my computer if it wasn't connected to wifi. Simple.

So why can't I do this with Android, an OS that is supposed to be so customizable? Or am I missing something?

Hey,

I do not believe there is currently an option in the Spotify app to disable streaming over cellular networks. Although, you could download your playlists for offline listening.

Another option is to use a data saving app such as NetGuard. NetGuard will allow you to individually block apps from using cellular data or Wi-Fi. You can check out this YouTube video which explains how to use the app.

Still wish it wasn't necessary to look externally for a solution, though.
