Cannot remove notification icon from Spotify App icon

I am running Spotify version 8.4.52.812 on an Galaxy S8 with all up to date software.

There is a red notification icon on my Spotify app that I just cannot remove or find a reason for it being there.

I have looked through every option I can think of within the app to remove it, but there is nothing there!

Any suggestions?

I have the same. Android uses that dot to let you know the app has a notification. Spotify puts an icon in the notification tray when it is open, hence the icon showing that there is a notification by means of this dot. If you close the app and it dissapears from the notification tray you should see the dot dissapear at the same time.
