topic Spotify pausing other media in Android

Okay, so I don't know how many others are having this issue as it is a sort of an amalgamation of what are actually features in a specific combination, but anyway. I have multiple devices with spotify installed. This of course allows me to control Spotify from other sources when it is playing in one, which is a great feature. However, if I'm playing a podcast on my phone, as I often do, and someone starts playing music on my media system, this prompts my phone on my end that Spotify is playing which results in my podcast being paused. How do I fix this? The only way I've found around this is to delete Spotify when it happens and re-install when I'm done listening to my podcast for the moment, but of course that's a huge hassle and I have to re-download my playlists. I don't want to set the app to offline semi permanently either, as that is a hassle too. Basically, is there a way to force the app to only acknowledge that Spotify is playing on other devices if I specifically open it? That would feel like the perfect solution.

Anyway, thanks for any help ya'll can give me in advance!
