Plan

Premium

Country

USA

Devices

Both my wife and I have Samsung Galaxy J7s, my Bluetooth enabled car radio is a Kenwood Excelon DPX792BH‎ and my wife has a small bluetooth enabled device that transmits the audio through an FM frequency.

Operating System

Android 7.0

My Question or Issue

When I drive I usually listen to podcasts through the Pocket Casts app and sometimes my wife is listening to Spotify on her phone at the same time. Sometimes when I press the forward button on my car radio to advance the podcast a few seconds it switches my audio to spotify. Many times this happens even when I haven't opened the spotify app since the last time I restarted my phone. This results in my wife's music stream stopping and then we both have to pick up our phones to fix the issue which is illegal and dangerous if were driving.

I'm guessing this happens because spotify sometimes shows me, in a notification, what music my wife is listening to and that background process has a higher priority or is queried before the Pocket Casts app, which is also in the background (meaning its not the app thats being displayed on the screen currently)

How can I prevent this from happening? I don't care to ever see what my wife is listening to on our shared spotify account.

Hey @cerebralcow.

If you're both using the same Spotify account, the best way to prevent this is by manually logging out of the account on your device before using your phone to listen to the podcast.

Another way you can try to keep this from happening, is by switching the app to Offline Mode on either phone.

All the best.
