Music stops when phone sleeps... not streaming

I know it's not a wireless thing, because this happens even with songs that I've downloaded.

I'm using a Motorola Atrix with Android, and I don't have any auto-task killing apps. I also run the phone on performance mode as far as the battery is concerned.

Does anybody have any idea why this might be happening?

How much RAM do you have?

It is possible that Android is killing Spotify due to a lack of free RAM - are you rooted?

Not rooted, I don't think (not sure what that means, exactly, but I haven't done any jailbreaking or other shenanigans).

When I check my RAM everything seems totally fine also. I don't have too many background apps going.

edit: By "totally fine" I mean that I have over half of my RAM still available.

You can't jailbreak an Android, you can root it however - please use the correct terminology, my OCD gets the better of me sometimes 🙂

Hmm.

Have you tried a factory reset and then installing the Spotify app again, also what quality is Spotify set to?

Hmm haven't gone that far with a full reset yet, although I did one about 2 months ago (and haven't changed any major settings) so I don't know if that would do the trick.

Just checked my settings and they're set to "normal" quality.

WOAH

Just tried putting them on extreme quality and putting the phone on sleep.. it worked!! You rule.

Why do you think that is, though?

Honestly? No idea, maybe the speakers didn't like playing the bad quality music 😉
