Now this is interesting: After an hour of huffing and puffing, Spotify finally managed to sync 188 songs. Well, not completely: Roughly 1/5th of the songs aren't tagged as downloaded. But, and here's the funny part: they still play when I turn Spotify to offline mode and disable wifi. My, isn't this precious. Instead of completely bugging out on me, the app just throws a little hissy fit and decides to show my playlists incorrectly. This isn't as bad as not syncing the songs at all, but it's still fracking annoying.

Syncing playlist still wonky

I just switched from iOS to Android two days ago. I thought the Android app would be decent since the iOS App was starting to piss me off (especially with losing the hidden equalizer). Well, at least iOS synced my playlists in a timely and more importantly corret manner.

Well, I already tried all the troubleshooting stuff: Clearing the cache, uninstalling the app, restarting the phone, clearing the folders and so on and so forth. Well, sync is still horribly slow. The desktop app says more songs are synced that actually are. It takes an hour to sync songs over wifi (or even while connected through usb, doesn't matter which). Also, it seems to lose songs while syncing. For example, one playlist might start out with 188 songs left to sync but over time it goes down. Right now, this 188 song playlist is magically reduced to 128 songs while downloading to my device.

I'm using the Nexus 4 with Android 4.2.2 and the most recent version of the Spotify app. I'm really close to just cutting my losses and quitting my Spotify account. I've been looking around this board, the slow syncing problem has been mentioned several times but it has never been acknowledged properly. Who the hell thinks it's good business to charge your users for faulty software and abysmal customer support?

So far, I've been recommending Spotify to each and any of my friends. This enthusiasm has started to wane over the past couple weeks until recently I've begun to tell people NOT to spend their money on this piece of crap. Seriousl guys, the it the frack together!

Description

Sync is slow, loses songs and just plain sucks.

What are the steps you took to get to the error/issue?

(We need to know what you are doing so we can do the exact same to try and get the same error)

1. Start spotify.

2. Start downloading playlists through desktop app

3. Make a cup of coffee

4. Come back to 19 songs synced and 50 songs of the playlist magically lost

5. Go "wtf", start looking up the forums.

6. Try troubleshooting hints. Clear cache, clear data, uninstall Spotify, restart device, clear folders, reinstall Spotify, wonder why desktop app can't find my device, reconnect to wifi.

7. Start downloading one playlist that has both local and cloud songs.

8. Get the same problem.

9. Get an aneurism

...

What I expected to happen

Press the download button and having all my songs syncing in a timely manner. Basically, I expected the app to do what it's supposed to do. What the hell do you think I expected? Flying pigs appearing outside my window?

Did you restart your device when troubleshooting in section B?

Yes x2

Did you read the connection troubleshooting tips?

Yes

Your device

You can't sync over USB, and syncing only syncs local tracks - if you want to download tracks, you have to download them over the internet.

That's nice and all but syncing is still a hell of a lot slower than it was on iOS and it still leaves a good 10% of my tracks unsynced while it worked just fine on iOS.

:edit: The process just jumped from 138 of 188 songs to 17 of 41 songs. What the hell is going on? 'Do what you want' might be one of my favourite songs but this should not apply to my software, actually.
