My Question or Issue

As of December, Spotify worked correctly: I would get in the car, and Spotify would automatically play where I left off once Bluetooth was connected.

I have since factory reset my phone, reinstalled Spotify, and now Spotify doesn't automatically play until I open Spotify (it does play where I left off once it's opened)

I'm not understanding what changed. Is this a Spotify issue, Android issue or Bluetooth issue?

I've seen threads about people wanting to disable this more than enable it.
