My Question or Issue

I just got this phone, upgrading from the galaxy s7. I can't change the music using any controller when the phone is locked. I have never had an issue with this before. My headphones, the actual phone, my watch and even my car can't change the music when the phone is closed. Its a huge hassel to unlock my phone just to change the song when I'm driving, or on a walk.

I have seen some similar issues and they suggested uninstalling Spotify and trying again, it doesn't work for me. I have made sure Spotify has all permissions allowed and even dug through my settings to debunk this. If I use Google Play Music, I don't have this issue.

This seems to be a known issue and it is currently under investigation as you can see here. You can track it there and vote for it so it will catch more attention. Hope this gets fixed soon 🙂
