Music stops when phone auto locks

It started with the most recent update. When in car mode and outside of it. In car mode, when the phone auto locks the music stops and I can no longer control my phone using the controls in my car. I could do so before the update. I have to keep unlocking it to get it to play.

Listening to my phone at my desk too the music stops when the phone locks but comes back on after a couple of minutes. Its not my network. Soundcloud is working fine.

Does the ongoing issue include the music keeps stopping when the screen locks? Dont see it mentioned.
