Car view mode will not work with android 9. Also, cannot control music on lockscreen with android 9. Finally, app still will not detect landscape mode on note 8.

Currently we're experiencing some issues. Take a look at this Ongoing Issue about auto-rotate not working, and this Ongoing Issue about external/lockscreen controls not working.

Car view should be working though. Have you tried reinstalling the app? You can find more info and how to use Car view here by the way.

Car view now works but the lock screen is problematic. The music pauses when the phone locks and returns when you press the screen. Still cannot advance, pause... music on lockscreen.

I had this issue and discovered that Spotify was listed as one of the apps that was set to sleep in battery settings when screen was locked.
