Lock screen issues with Samsung Galaxy S8 when using Spotify

My Question or Issue

I've recently noticed my S8 has issues with Spotify despite performing a clean install and updating my phone then performing another clean install.

I can no longer play music or podcasts when my phone is locked as pausing them will cause spotify to play a random song or playlist whenever I unpause my song or podcast. I have to completely unlock my device to unpause. The lock screen is completely unresponsive sometimes as well (only with spotify) and will not pause music when prompted again forcing me to unlock my phone and do so from the app. The issues will go away when I force close the app from the app settings but then reappear after an hour or so.

This does not happen with any other music/podcast app on my phone which leads me to believe its only an issue with the spotify app itself. Is there anything else I can do to stop this from happening?
